Here’s a handy guide to understanding how I report steam levels for Perrin’s Picks. Please note that I’m not treating this as an exact science, but this system should give a fairly accurate impression of steaminess!

Contains many “onscreen” sex scenes described in detail using explicit language, some of which may contain exploration of kinks and/or fetishes. The sexual tension is intense and abundant through the book.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Four Fire
Contains extensive sexual tension and multiple sex scenes that occur “onscreen,” and are described in detail using explicit language.
🔥🔥🔥 Three Fire
Three Fire – Contains sex scenes that occur onscreen, but are described in limited detail or using mild or indirect language, with strong sexual tension.
🔥🔥 Two Fire
Contains some great sexual tension, and some sex scenes “onscreen,” but some offscreen or described in brief detail.
🔥One Fire
One Fire – Contains some sexual tension and/or sexual situations, but sex scenes happen offscreen or are implied.
Zero Fire
Some sexual tension but no sex – implied, offscreen, or otherwise. I’m probably not reviewing these often because I LOVE the steam lol.
